Yin Yoga & Traditional Chinese Medicine Workshop

  • Yoga studio Pamplona Ronda Obispo Barbazán Pamplona, Navarra, 31001 Spain (map)

Join us, on this two-day workshop and immerse yourself deeply in the restorative practice of Yin Yoga. In our fast-paced, modern lifestyle, the dynamic, and extroverting Yang energy, can take precedence, yet our yoga practice, just like our bodies and our lives, thrives on balance. We need Yin.

In this 2-day workshop lead by Maite Méndez from Mandalablue Yoga, you will discover an exceptional way to complement your Yang (more active) practice through this ancestral way of practicing yoga through meditation and stillness.
The tranquil, restful energy of Yin is the necessary counter-balance to dynamic Yang activity and practice.
By attending this workshop you have the opportunity to explore and deepen your understanding of Yin Yoga on a practical level but also theoretically.

After two days of immersing in the practice and deep learning you will have developed a stable practice of yin yoga and also gained a comprehensive understanding of each asana and their relationship in maintaining balance between mind, body and spirit.

Who should attend?

This weekend yoga workshop is suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to more experienced students of yoga. It is especially aimed at all those who want to take their understanding of asana and meditation beyond mere practice.

What is yin yoga?

It is said that the universe is composed of both masculine and feminine polarities; Shiva and Shakti, the sun and the moon; “Ha”-“Tha”, “Yin and Yang” In traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Ayurveda and other holistic disciplines, they recognize these dualities.
By finding balance in these dualities, health in the body-mind-spirit is re-established. And this is the basis of the principle of Yin Yoga.
In the practice of asana, Yin targets the deeper connective tissues of the body, such as the joints and ligaments.
Unlike the muscles, these deeper tissues require passive, still poses, in which space is created to explore the subtle sensations in the body.
As the muscles relax, the energy (Chi or Prana) begins to flow in deeper layers of the body, especially in the joints and in the fascia. The Fascia is where the body-mind connection is reflected and imprinted and where the meridians these channels of energy circulate.
Postures are held for between two-to-five minutes, to safely and effectively release and regenerate.
Just as tight shoulders can be indicative of mental stress, tension in the body often has a psychological component.
The deep stationary poses of Yin provide the perfect practice ground for letting go, breathing through sensations, and allowing powerful transformation and healing to take place, in body, mind and spirit.
But not only that: through the guided attention of the mind and breathing, we also contribute to the activation of energy in the meridians that connect the external part of the body with the organs; that is, we contribute to the health of the organs at a physical, energetic and emotional level.

By attending this 2-day workshop you will:

  • Develop your own personal Yin Yoga and meditation practice.
  • Gain an understand which asana favour certain organs in the body and why their practice contributes to the re-establishment of balance in the body-mind-spirit.
  • Discover which acupressure points we must activate to regain balance in the face of illness or emotional and physical imbalance.
  • Explore the system of energy lines called meridians that connect the external part of the body with the body’s organs.
  • Through the practice of Yin posture and meditation, you will discover how to activate the flow of energy also know as Chi or Prana through this network of meridians.
  • Learn what the fascia is and it’s importance in it’s functionality with and what are its main functions in the body-mind.
  • We will learn what foods and habits will help us rebalance the body.
  • Mindfulness meditation: Equanimity during the observation of the present moment through breathing and bodily sensations) during the asana.
